My name is Daniel Plante, and this is my website!
My hope is to share with you a bit of who I am, what I've done, and can hopefully do for you!
I am a Music Major at Shepherd University, with hopes of pursuing a career in sacred music and service. For a more detailed story of me, click here. For my blog and newsletter, click here.
Music is an incredibly powerful thing: It can inspire, invigorate, reminisce, heal, teach, and so much more. The one commonality between all the things music does is that it can influence us in an emotional and visceral way. Regardless of what genre a person likes to listen to, music speaks to us in a deeply powerful and unique way. Whether it's the pulsing beat of a club mix or the ethereal tones of Gregorian chant, each one of us shares a deep personal connection with the music we listen to.
It is this commonality that I wish to explore, not only because it allows the kind of freedom to include Steven Curtis Chapman alongside Johann Sebastian Bach, but because it is the distilled essence of what drew me to a career in music: because God chooses to show little pieces of himself in all great works of music.
In the works of Handel and Haydn, His incredible joy and majesty...
In Mozart and Beethoven, His limitless power...
In Lauridsen, His immeasurable grace...
and in Relient K, His sense of humor.
It is these things that I want to share with the world, to share with people the greatest heights and the most unfathomable depths of human emotion. This musical catharsis is what binds us, liberates us, and reminds us of why life is truly worth living.
